Behind the lens
Adela Pérez Galán (b. 1992) is a documentary photographer and artist from Mexico, currently based in Cancún.
Raised in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Adela began her photographic journey by documenting life inside all-inclusive resorts before turning to documentary photography to examine systems of representation, femininity, and social dynamics. Her practice explores belonging, emotional vulnerability, and the psychological weight embedded within everyday spaces and relationships.
In 2023, Adela earned a Master of Arts in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales. She was featured in Source Magazine’s showcase of emerging photographic talent across the UK and Ireland, and exhibited internationally at the Bienal'23 Fotografia do Porto under the theme Atos de Empatia.
